Normally used as a "finisher" by powerlifters, the hip belt squat greatly reduces the requirement of the lower back when performing a squat, but keeps the emphasis on the quads and glutes. Sometimes the hip belt squat is considered by those with shoulder complaints that can no longer perform a regular barbell squat, however, in this circumstance, the Safety Squat Bar is probably a wiser choice. A specialist bit of kit, the Belt Squat Machine is normally resigned to use by powerlifting gyms only, however, if you have the space, it's a nice exercise variation to have in any free-weight gym.
Something to consider, if you're training at home on a budget and fancy performing this exercise too, why not purchase our dipping belt, loading pin and a couple of our wooden boxes to stand on, in order to make your own hip belt squat station.
