Cheap but effective

The rolled foam pad (with cover) provides about a 1" cushion between you and the bar. I've found it of most benefit to raise the bar, alleviating discomfort on the shoulder complex when squatting heavy.

The Manta Ray is a better invention again (so this should be reviewed!), but the olympic barbell pad is a cheap alternative.
