Review: York STS College Rack is a classed as a full commercial product by York Fitness, it's designed to perfectly match up with the full range of STS rack accessories including safety arms, scoop blocks, multi-functional bench etc. While not being a direct equivalent of either our Gym-Equip our GymRatZ range it is far more suited to the commercial training environment than many other brands which are only suited to domestic / light commercial gyms such as hotels etc as used by non-paying clients.

So what is it about this College rack that we like? For a start it's good looking. The uprights and, built-in bar holder taking 2 x Olympic bars (upright) Optional safety rails for squats, bench/shoulder press etc.

The large array of add-on accesories that fit all the York STS Racks including very robust safety spotter arms and an equally heavy duty dip attachmnet so plenty of versatillity and multi-station performance but the STS College Rack incorporates the bench stringer that allows the York Multi-Functional Bench to be locked perfectly into the rack for bench work.

Having purchased and use the College racks bigger brother the STS Half Rack along with safety spot arms, dip attachement and mutli-functional bench for our own home gym both myself and Deb can attest to the weight and quality of the whole STS range. Moving/re-positioning J-Hooks and safeties is extremely quick and easy as is fitting the dip station to one of the uprights. Extremely robust and confidence inspiring.

If you don't have the headroom or space to fit the full STS Power Cage or Half Rack then this College Rack (Collegiate Rack) is the perfect balance of quality and space.
NOTE: The images depict two variants of the rack. The older version with the shorter rack feet and the current version with extended rack feet that now come out far enough to give adequate stabillity when used with the safety spotter arms. New depth of rack is 1270mm to front of feet.

So what do York say about their Multi-Function Rack?

"This is a UK designed product, based upon our customer's needs.  We have taken note from our customers that space is a premium and ceiling height in modern and older buildings can restrict the introduction of a squat rack or technical development of Olympic Lifting.

On the STS College Rack we have utilised the stainless steel front mounted hook plate system as used on our STS Half Rack. This allows the usage of the STS Attachments such as the Spot Arms, Dip and Technique Scoops to increase the functionality of this compact rack.

The College Rack has smaller foot print that the Half Rack, which will make it a firm favorite with Schools, Colleges, Universities and the general Health & Fitness market.

The Collegiate Rack, when used with the Multi-Function Bench, can be used for Flat/Incline Bench Press, Shoulder Press and with the spot arms in situe, squats can be performed safely."
