York STS Safety Spot Bars (College and Half Racks)

The York STS College Rack and Half Rack are great racks for the price however to give them the total versatillity what you want is a pair of Safety Sport Bars (Arms) which enable the double-sided lift-off hooks to be used from the front of the rack to perform exercises like squats, bench and shoulder press etc. If you like squatting out of the rack but like to train alone without a spotter then you really need a set of these spotter arms as a just-in-case measure.
You may never put them to the test but even if they save you just once in your life they would have been worth it.

2018 update: Having purchased and fitted an STS Half Rack for our GymRatZ home gym 12 months ago I can say that these safety spot arms are fantastic. Extremely quick to adjust or remove, the replaceable wear guards on the internal faces of the arms that mate up against the rack uprights make for very smooth and almost silent adjustment, no metal-on-metal clanking.
Whilst I'm long past the days of 1 rep max "ego" lifts, after a spell of training absence and increasing age and associated declining T levles means the point of rep failure can sneak up on you well before you'd expect to fail a rep and I've been very thankfull the safeties were in position during the occasional failed bench press! Never had to use them for a failed squat (yet) but I'd have no hesitation in relying on them to bail me out of such a situation.
Yes they're pretty expensive but they make a huge difference to trainikng and when you get hold of them you appreciate the finer details that really makes them worth the extra cost.
